Firearm Licensing

APPLYING FOR A GUN LICENSE
All gun licenses are issued pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws using the state’s Massachusetts Instant Record Check System (MIRCS).

Applications for Firearm Identification (FID) cards and Licenses to Carry Firearms (LTC) are received by appointment on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.  

If you would like an appointment to apply for an FID card or an LTC, please call the department’s business line at (413) 283-8792.

FREE GUN LOCKS

The Police Department has free gun locks available for all residents.  These locks are provided to us by Project ChildSafe for distribution to our community.

If you would like to obtain gun locks, please stop by the police station any time.
